Meet The Guests
Jacqueline Cottrell is a writer and blogger and the PR Director for the independent multimedia company Noir Caesar. Created by NBA player Johnny O'Bryant, Noir Caesar is comprised of an extremely talented group of black creators that infuse anime, manga and hip-hop. Some of their titles include Primus 7, Arms of the Dragon and XO Genasys. Jaqueline speaks about her experiences with being a black woman growing up with a deep love of geek culture and being the first woman to create a title for Noir Caesar entitled Pryde Force Fyve. Mikhail Sebastian, is the artist, graphic designer and creator of the manga Mythallica Lux Nova for Noir Caesar. In addition to discussing his work for the company we get a little into black culture's love for Dragon Ball Z and the correlation between Eastern culture and hip hop culture. Frederick L Jones, the founder of the manga company Saturday-AM and the mature reader imprint Saturday-PM. Frederick explains how the need for more diverse storytellers and artists lead to the creation of the company which features thrilling manga series from men and women from all around the world. He also discusses how his background as a videogame developer allowed him to co-develop a mobile game based on Saturday-AM's characters and titles such as Apple Black, Clock Striker and Bully Eater.
