I know everyone has their own views regarding free downloads. I’ve often argued that while an artist should be paid for their work, sometimes a free or discounted download can help get the word out there, especially if you’re not already established. As always “The Free And Cheap” serves as a way to let you guys in on some cool (legal) downloads that I think you might find worth checking out without having to go broke.
Last month Florida-based indie label Paper + Plastick launched their own subscription-based download service. The best part? It’s completely free. Just punch in your email address, hit the “subscribe” link and voila! Free tunes delivered to your inbox each week and you’ll never have to worry about the looming threat of being “that guy” who hunts down album leaks. It could be a song, an EP or even a full album. In addition, even if you’re a little iffy about free downloads without giving a little back Paper + Plastick also provided a link to purchase the music via digital download or vinyl.
Just one word of caution: The download links only last a week before they expire so act accordingly.
