I spent most of last night listening Julius Seizure’s single “TMSNEV” on loop getting hyped up for their upcoming album Trials. Unable to slake my insatiable thirst for metal, I checked in on Grimus, who have released a new track “Without Master.” Since 2007 Grimus has been representing New Jersey to the fullest with some of the most brutal, punishing and downright hateful extreme metal you’ll hear this year. The band has been gaining a steady following since the release of their 2010 EP Gutter Earth, but the time has now come for them to take it to the next level with their debut full-length Omnicide.
“The term [Omnicide] literally meaning the killing of everything is a testament to man’s inherent, bloodthirsty nature and audacity to alter his surroundings, through efficient forms of destruction. Paradoxically, mankind is willfully committing suicide in its attempt to become a godlike creator. This album is a soundtrack to the decimation of all that is known, ‘the age of none.’”
It’s worth noting that the album was mastered by Alan Douches. The man has had his hand in a staggering number of recent releases, including Dillinger Escape Plan‘s One Of Us Is The Killer, Hey Anna’s Pompette EP (which I just recently reviewed) and Killed The Fixtion‘s latest single “Roots of the Mountain.” On June 23 Grimus will be playing a hometown show which will also have performances from fellow Elizabeth-based bands Prophecies, Blameless & Upright and more.
Omnicide will drop on June 25. Listen to the new single below. Please mosh responsibly.
