Hackettstown, NJ’s Boy Things have called it a day. The band broke the news yesterday afternoon on Facebook:

Boy Things is no more. We had a really great time writing music and performing together, but now it is time for all of us to move on with our lives. This band started as five friends playing board games and screwing around during the summers. We have released three eps; two digital and one 7 inch, and played a whole bunch of shows within the tri-state area.

The quintet had often joked about the band’s bizarre circumstances which lead to their  formation back in 2011. In an interview with MTVU back in February of this year, the band explained it thusly:

Essentially, Eric used Adam and Vince as spies to get information on an ex-girlfriend, Adam and Beth dated for a while but it didn’t work out, and then there was the usual band drama. But in the end, we’re all are a happy band family. We all went to the same High School, Hackettstown High School in NJ, so we knew each other and were friends even before the band started.

Boy Things’ most recent release was 2012’s Equations 7″  which is now available for a “name your price” download on Bandcamp.
